In 1818, Moses Rogers (1780-1821) inaugurated the first steam service between Savannah and Charleston in the Charleston. A year later, he and his brother in law Stephen Rogers (1789-1868) were first to cross the Atlantic in the Savannah, a sailing ship aided by steam.

     Both were her 4th cousin 6 gen. removed. The common ancestor - James Rogers (1615-1687)and Elizabeth Rowland.
     Stephen was her 1st cousin 5 gen. removed. The common ancestors were Samuel Powers (1717-1791) and Martha Browning (1733-1816).
